Massive blow for Newcastle
Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin has been ruled out of action for a month, having suffered a hamstring injury against Southampton.
The Frenchman has been a revelation at St James’ Park this season.
Saint-Maximin has been one of Newcastle’s best players in recent weeks, and scored his first goal for the club against Sheffield United.
His and Newcastle’s form has seen the Magpies win two of their last three games, beating both Sheffield United and Southampton.
They also drew with Manchester City after a thrilling match in the North East, drawing 2-2 after a late Jonjo Shelvey goal.
However, they have important clashes with Burnley, Crystal Palace and Manchester United coming up.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, they will have to navigate those fixtures without Allan Saint-Maximin.
Saint-Maximin set for a month out of action
According to Sky Sports, Saint-Maximin could miss up to seven games over the Christmas period.
They claim that ‘Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury’.
They go on to explain that Saint-Maximin injured himself against Southampton, and was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.
As a result of his injury, ‘the 22-year-old is set to miss to up to seven games over the festive period, including Premier League games against Manchester United and Leicester City and the third round of the FA Cup.’
That would be a huge blow for Newcastle, who are really starting to build momentum at this stage of the season.
Sky claim that a scan indicates Saint-Maximin will be back in mid-January, despite Newcastle fearing that he could have been on the sidelines for longer.
