caretaker boss Graeme Jones looks set to continue in that capacity for the next handful of fixtures after Amanda Staveley notified him of the current situation at the club.

According to Times Sport, Jones will be the temporary commanding officer for the Magpies as the hunt continues for the next manager at Newcastle after the club parted ways with Steve Bruce.

With plans now set in motion during the interim period, Jones will preside over the next two fixtures on the Newcastle calendar; a weekend visit to the capital to take on Crystal Palace and then a home fixture against table-topping Chelsea at St. James’ Park.

It should not be expected for Jones to feature on the touchline for any period extended past the two match plan discussed by Staveley as Newcastle remain adamant that finding the next piece of the new regime on Tyneside.

Hunt continues for Bruce successor

Newcastle continue to search for the best possible candidate to headline the regime change on the pitch at St. James Park in the wake of the club being purchased by a PIF-led consortium ownership group.
