Higuain or Icardi for Arsenal?
Arsenal need a striker. With all the wealth swirling round the Premier League right now and with all their rivals bringing in reinforcements, it seems inconceivable that Arsene Wenger will go into the 2016/2017 season with Olivier Giroud as their main man.
Gooners everywhere are beginning to fret that Wenger will once again fail to splash the cash having only bought Petr Cech a year ago, and not even one outfield player.
On Wednesday, Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara appeared to hint on social media that Arsenal are in discussions with the Inter Milan striker.
De Laurentiis calls for Arsenal bid
The future of Gonzalo Higuain has dominated the Italian press for over a week now.
The Argentine finished as top goal scorer in Serie A last season and Juventus are reportedly weighing up a 94 million euro move for Higuain.
This of course, would only be possible for Juventus, if they sell Paul Pogba to Manchester United.
But, Napoli are not keen to sell Higuain to Juventus and outspoken president Aurelio De Laurentiis has not hidden his feelings about the deal.
De Laurentiis has flat out refused to negotiate with Juventus and urged them to simply meet Higuain’s buy-out clause of 94 million euros.
Atletico Madrid or Arsenal for Higuain?
On Wednesday, De Laurentiis continued to answer questions about the Argentine striker and talked up interest from both Atletico Madrid and Arsenal.
De Laurentiis: “Atletico Madrid offered one month ago €60m + 2 players for Higuain; I refused. Now let’s see with Arsenal.”
The Napoli president continued to say that Atletico Madrid are the only side to have made an offer for Higuain and that: “I do not think Higuain will go to Juventus.” (Via Di Marzio.)
He only mentioned Arsenal once, but that should start the rumours again…
