Manchester United planning for the future in a major way
Manchester United have reportedly bid in excess of £30 million for Birmingham’s 16-year-old midfield starlet Jude Bellingham.
The Red Devils are starting to employ a new transfer model at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly put an emphasis on youth since joining.
Harry Maguire came in over the summer, and while he’s 26, is still a couple of years away from his peak.
21-year-old Daniel James also signed, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another long-term acquisition.
That’s also beside the fact that Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood have both been promoted to the first-team, and have regularly featured.
Now, Manchester United have reportedly made an eye-watering bid for another huge star of the future.
United bid in excess of £30million
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have made an offer for Birmingham’s Jude Bellingham.
They claim: ‘Manchester United have made a bid in excess of £30m for Birmingham’s 16-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham, Sky Sports News can confirm.’
Bellingham has made a whopping 25 appearances in the Championship so far this season, despite his age.
He’s also scored four goals and assisted one from central midfield.
They’re not bad numbers for any midfielder, let alone a 16-year-old.
His performances, according to Sky, have ‘attracted interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool’.
Manchester United are supposedly in a good negotiating position, too.
Sky explain that Birmingham are ‘under pressure’ to raise funds, after breaking profit and sustainability rules last season.
As a result, Birmingham will no doubt be looking to do business, with it just remaining to be seen what the final fee is, and if Manchester United is Bellingham’s destination.
