Manchester United and Everton are set to go head to head to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The defender could be made available by Chelsea following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri.
The Frenchman was on loan at Stoke City last season but following their relegation to the EFL Championship, he will not be rejoining the club.
That has left him looking for other options and two look to have presented themselves under 24 hours before the transfer deadline.
They come in the form of Manchester United and Everton who are both on the lookout for a central defender.
Loan or permanent?
It’s not just a straightforward situation this, however.
That is because, according to L’Equipe as cited by Get French football news, Manchester United are interested in a permanent move for the 23-year-old.
However, that is said to be a worry to Chelsea who are unsure whether they want to sanction a permanent move to a direct rival.
That leaves Everton, who are said to be in talks over a loan move for the Frenchman.
That would mean that Chelsea would not be losing the player and would not be aiding a direct rival.
There is no information on which side Zouma would prefer, meaning that we will only find out ahead of the deadline tomorrow.
What could make this evening more interesting is that both United and Everton are interested in signing Yerry Mina too.
The Colombian has been linked with a move to both sides and while there have been more links suggesting Everton will win the race, that could change towards the deadline.
