Manchester City are set to enter the race to sign Man United target Pedro from Barcelona according to Marca.
Reports in Spain understand that Man City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain has contacted Barcelona to declare their interest in the Spanish international. Although no formal bid has been made yet it is understood that the Blues’ are now weighing up whether or not make their interest official by activating the 28-year-old’s release clause which is believed to be in the region of £22million.
Despite interest from their local rivals, Manchester United are very confident of concluding a deal for Pedro and there have been suggestions that the Reds will move to complete the transfer after Barcelona’s European Super cup tie with Sevilla in Monaca tonight.
United boss Louis Van Gaal has made no secret of his desire to bring in attacking reinforcements before the end of the transfer window after the departure of forward players Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria this summer.
