Man United’s Bruno Fernandes makes Premier League history after bagging latest POTM award
Fernandes dazzling
Gifted midfielder Fernandes of course made the move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline in January of last year.
And whilst, at the time, there was understandable excitement surrounding his arrival, few could have predicted just how significant an impact the Portuguese would go on to have on the fortunes of his new side.
Fernandes has played an absolutely central role for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United since his arrival, having added a new dimension of guile and creativity to the club’s midfield.
All told, across 22 appearances in his first half-season in Manchester, the former Sporting CP man directly contributed to 20 goals.
The early months of the new campaign, meanwhile, have seen Fernandes’ production continue at a frankly staggering rate, with the 26-year-old having, at times, almost single-handedly carried an underperforming Red Devils outfit through moments of individual brilliance.

Such efforts have since of course given rise to a major upturn in form on United’s part, with the club’s downing of Burnley on Tuesday having seen Solskjaer’s men take sole ownership of top spot in the Premier League table.
And, as outlined above, on Friday, Fernandes’ consistent excellence has seen the Portuguese once again rewarded.
In a post across their social media platforms, the Premier League confirmed that Fernandes has been voted as the English top-flight’s Player of the Month for December.
This comes with the former Sampdoria star having lined out on 7 occasions last month, notching 3 goals and 4 assists in the process:

Fernandes’ latest accolade, meanwhile, has also seen the midfield conductor make history.
Remarkably, despite having now lined out in the Premier League for just 12 months, Fernandes has become the first player in the history of the division to secure 4 Player of the Month accolades in the space of a single year:
