Real Madrid plan on keeping Arsenal loanee Martin Odegaard

Arsenal want Odegaard stay

Martin Odegaard has been a revelation at Arsenal since his arrival on loan from Real Madrid in January, scoring in both the crucial away meeting with Olympiacos in the Europa League, and against Spurs in the North London Derby.

This has led to calls from many Gunners supporters to get the Norwegian to sign on a permanent deal in the summer. The international midfielder has spoken of his happiness and stability at the club, possibly hinting at a future stay:

There have been growing rumours throughout the media that Arsenal are intent on working out a deal to keep Odegaard at the club next season:

Whether or not he does join the Gunners in the summer will depend on Los Blancos’ stance.

Real Madrid aim to bring Odegaard back

Unfortunately for Arsenal and their supporters, however, it seems as though – according to Spanish media sources at least – the Norwegian international’s return to Real Madrid in the summer could see him stay put.

Marca claim that Madrid ‘do not contemplate a transfer.’

At just 22, Odegaard has many more years to impress, and his showings at Arsenal have proven that he can still perform at a very high level after a solid loan with Real Sociedad last season.

The situation is very difficult for Arsenal, because they have a player that is performing exceptionally well, which will inevitably encourage them to try to keep him. However, at the same time, parent club Madrid see such performances, and believe that he should be playing for them.

If Arsenal have any hope of convincing the Bernabeu hierarchy to part ways with Odegaard in the summer, it may require a significant fee.
