Liverpool & Monaco’s Christian Koffi
According to leading French daily L’Equipe on Thursday, Liverpool are poised to do a deal with AS Monaco.
L’Equipe announced that Christian Koffi is ready to leave Monaco to join Liverpool.
Christian Koffi is a 17-year-old midfielder. Born in France, but eligible to play for the Ivory Coast, Koffi made two appearances in this season’s UEFA Youth League.
Koffi is developing as an attacking midfielder, while he’s compared to Sadio Mane.
Koffi has represented France at U19 level.
Koffi is primed to move to Anfield after his present Monaco deal expires on June 30.
How could this impact Thomas Lemar?
A few weeks ago on Telefoot, Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar has called for Arsenal or Liverpool to sign him this summer.
In the final days of last summer’s window, Arsenal tried to sign Lemar. As Man City were looking to land Alexis Sanchez, the Gunners turned to the Monaco star.
But it was too late in the window for Monaco, and so the Gunners were rebuffed.
Similarly, Liverpool have previously tried to sign Lemar from the Ligue 1 side. But their efforts have also failed.
Now Lemar has spoken openly about those bids, while he’s opened the door for new offers.
Lemar on Arsenal & Liverpool bids
Thomas Lemar, 22, told Telefoot he was disappointed that Arsenal and Liverpool’s bids were turned down:
I’m not going to hide it, I was a little disappointed. I try not to think about it.
I’ve kept working so that these clubs come back during the next transfer window.
Lemar is under contract with Monaco until 2020. Previous estimates on how much Lemar could cost have ranged from around 50 million euros to 90 million.
