Jurgen Klopp watches Liverpool at Burnley

Liverpool attacker destroyed on Twitter during Burnley win

Liverpool struggle to impress at Burnley

With just 48 hours between Premier League games, it was always going to be hard for Liverpool to play their swashbuckling football at Burnley on New Year’s Day.

In fairness to Burnley, they also had the same amount of time to prepare for this home match against Liverpool, having played at Huddersfield on Saturday.

Is Phil Coutinho injured?

Liverpool made seven changes to their line-up at Burnley after their comeback win over Leicester at Anfield on Saturday.

Some of these were enforced changes – with Mohamed Salah picking up a groin injury.

Philippe Coutinho also missed out with a thigh problem.

(Although there are reports from Barcelona today that a fee has been agreed for the Brazilian playmaker.)

Dom Solanke slated by Liverpool fans

Burnley and Liverpool played out a bore draw in the first half at Turf Moor.

There were very few chances for either side.

In the second half, Liverpool became a bit more lively but for two of their attackers it was a frustrating afternoon.

Dominic Solanke received a rare start but struggled to impress again, despite a dramatic second 45.

Mane impresses, taken off, Solanke struggles and stays on

Sadio Mane was also included in the Liverpool starting XI and whilst he is undoubtedly still a fine player, the Senegal attacker is struggling for form right now.

Mane however fired in a brilliant opener to remind us all that he is still a class act.

Liverpool won the match in dramatic style in the 94th minute. Ragnar Klavan heading home from close range from a Dejan Lovren assist.

There was no such sort of redemption for Solanke and the former Chelsea striker was slaughtered on Twitter…
