Leicester & Jamie Vardy
On Tuesday morning the Times have confirmed that Leicester City are trying to complete a new deal for Jamie Vardy.
Jamie Vardy, who will represent England at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, was the fourth highest scorer in last season’s Premier League.
Vardy scored 20 league goals for the Foxes in another impressive season.
The 31-year-old attacker scored 23 goals in 42 matches in all competitions.
Leicester are now looking to lock down their star striker to a brand new deal. The Times report the following:
Leicester City have opened discussions with Jamie Vardy about a contract extension worth about £120,000 per week.
The club held preliminary discussions with Vardy’s representatives over a one-year extension to his current deal, which is due to expire in 2020.
Vardy’s new deal with Leicester will only be concluded after the World Cup, if the striker signs the deal at all.
Riyad Mahrez & Man City
Vardy may also be waiting to see how the situation with Riyad Mahrez plays out before putting pen to paper on his next contract.
In recent days reports have spread that the Algerian winger is finally set to complete a move to Man City.
Indeed, Man City are tipped to spend 75 million pounds to prise Mahrez from the King Power Stadium.
Man City tried to sign Mahrez in the January transfer window, however Leicester managed to hold onto the star creator.
Mahrez, 27, is under contract with the Foxes until 2020. Last season he scored 13 goals and chipped in with 13 assists in 41 matches in all competitions for Leicester.
It’s also unclear if Claude Puel will still be the Leicester manager next season.
