Leaked: The first image of Man United’s brand new Newton Heath inspired 2016-17 home kit

Football merchandise insiders Footy Headlines have dropped a major piece of news for Manchester United fans today.

A couple of weeks ago we brought you the news that Adidas are plotting a major redesign of Man United’s kit for 2016-17 inspired by the first Newton Heath shirt.

The Red Devils were originally founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford in 1910.

Rather than changing the home kit to green and gold, Adidas are planning to combine two shades of red in a half-and-half design on the new United uniform.

Now we have the first pictures of the new kit.

The new kit is set to go on sale in June 2016.

Aside from the actual two-tone red design on the shirt, perhaps the most eye catching design is on the collar, which will feature a yellow and red Newton Heath plaque-like graphic on the back of the neckline.
