Moutinho injury concern

Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho could be injured ahead of Portugal’s next international fixture. The 34-year old was not present in training ahead of the game against Serbia.

He started the match against Azerbaijan but was replaced at half-time by Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claims that his name has not been included in the official list given to UEFA but PSG midfielder Danilo Pereira was present despite missing the last match.

Portugal and Wolves will be hoping any affliction is not too serious as Wolves will need the experienced midfielder to push them towards a strong finish in the Premier League table.

Corbeanu scores on Canada debut

Another Wolves player enjoying a better time on international duty was Canadian forward Theo Corbeanu. 101 spoke with the former Toronto player about how he had previously represented Romania but had since chosen Canada.

“I did represent Romania at youth level. I didn’t make Canada, I wasn’t selected for the squad at under-15s level. So I said that I want to be playing international football because that was what the best talents were doing at the time,” he said.

“I contacted Romania, they said that they were aware of me and they were tracking me down. I sent them a few clips of myself and that is how we started talking. I got a call-up against Ireland and that is how I made my debut in September 2017.

“I chose Canada now after a few years with Romania because I felt it was the right thing to do at this time because it has a very promising generation of players. Especially with the whole excitement of hosting the 2026 World Cup.

“I thought that I want to be part of this great journey moving forward. That is what motivated me and what inspired me to make this decision. I always wanted to play for Canada but like I said, a few years back I wasn’t selected.”

Now he has made his debut and he even managed to get on the scoresheet.

Sensing the opportunity, running in from the left to score on his debut. What a moment for the youngster.
