Erling Haaland told to “test himself” and consider a move to Arsenal next summer

Haaland dared to put himself to the test by Jens Lehmann

Former” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Arsenal

and Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has told Norwegian starlet Erling Haaland what his next move should be after inevitably leaving the Westfalenstadion next summer, and the German believes it should be to join the Gunners.

Haaland, one of the most highly-coveted players in the world, is sure to leave the Ruhr valley at the end of the current season, with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, and Real Madrid keen on battling to secure his services.

But Lehmann, a Premier League veteran with Arsenal, thinks that Haaland would be better served in moving to north London in a move that he feels would add best to the Norwegian’s growing legacy;

He already has an imposing stature; the force and height. Of course, he has to improve his [right] foot but I have never seen such a big, big player be so fast.

He’s still [at Dortmund]. There aren’t that many clubs where he can go and where he can make a difference. Maybe he could go to Manchester United or Arsenal, where he could bring a club back to the top.” Note: quotes via the Mirror citing Bild.

Norwegian starlet destined for greatness

Whether or not Erling Haaland would view a move to Arsenal as a way to advance his career remains to be seen, though one could certainly guess that he will hardly view north London as the optimal next port of call.

What does have a high chance of occurring is the Leeds-born sensation turning into arguably the premier striker in the world for the next decade.

Erling Haaland told to “test himself” and consider a move to Arsenal next summer

DORTMUND, GERMANY – MAY 16: Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund celebrates scoring his team’s first goal during the Bundesliga match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 at Signal Iduna Park on May 16, 2020 in Dortmund, Germany. The Bundesliga and Second Bundesliga is the first professional league to resume the season after the nationwide lockdown due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. All matches until the end of the season will be played behind closed doors. (Photo by Martin Meissner/Pool via Getty Images)

Haaland already has smashed 119-goals in 163-appearances in his young career, averaging over a goal a game for Die Schwarzgelben since his move to Dortmund from RB Salzburg during the winter pause in the 2019-20 season.

Seventy goals in sixty-nine appearances across all competitions is a stunning return for a player his age plying his trade in one of the very best leagues in Europe, and though it is unlikely that a strike rate that high will be sustainable across the years to come, there are few – if any – that question the immense potential Erling Haaland possesses, and just how far he can go in his career.
