Everton’s plans to keep James Rodriguez revealed

Everton’s plans to keep James Rodriguez revealed

Ancelotti, James like ‘father and son’

Since his arrival, James Rodriguez has become an instant hit at Goodison Park.

Departing Real Madrid, Rodriguez took a considerable gamble joining one of the Premier League’s less competitive teams.

However, he, along with Carlo Ancelotti and fellow summer signings Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey, have transformed Everton into a European place competitor.

The Colombian has revealed that his relationship with Ancelotti is like a ‘father and son’ situation, and has helped him to settle so well.

“I’ve come to a good club, a club that wants to achieve big things,” said James.

“I’m with a manager who knows exactly what I’m like. He knows how to relate to his players and staff.

“I get on fantastically well with him, just like a father and son.

“So, everything was very easy and straightforward.”

James only signed a contract until 2022, but now, it looks like the club could be moving to ensure a longer stay.

Everton want James extension

The success that James Rodriguez has enjoyed at Everton has led the club to look into extending his deal.

Reports emanating from Spain claim that the Toffees want to add an additional year to his current contract, through to 2023.

Everton have hopes of reaching a European qualification spot this season, and will no doubt hope to build on that in the years to come.

Rodriguez would be a major asset, as the Blues progress further up the Premier League table and potentially into the Champions League.
