Chelsea’s summer transfer problems
The Premier League summer transfer window closes on August 9 at 5pm UK time.
What will Chelsea’s squad look like by the time the window slams shut?
Worryingly for Chelsea fans, familiar questions remain in the final days of the window.
Will Eden Hazard remain at Stamford Bridge this season? Will Thibaut Courtois leave the Blues before the season starts?
And will Chelsea sign any more significant additions before Thursday’s deadline?
Eden Hazard & Real Madrid
When it comes to updates on Chelsea’s Belgium stars, HLN journalist Kristof Terreur is often the go-to source.
On Monday morning Kristof Terreur has posted the following update on Hazard’s possible move to Real Madrid this summer.
Put simply, Hazard is staying at Chelsea as “time has run out” for Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard is back in London and will return to training today.

Thibaut Courtois & Real Madrid
But when it comes to Thibaut Courtois, most seem to believe the Chelsea keeper is bound for Real Madrid.
Following Sunday’s Community Shield, Maurizio Sarri admitted that Courtois will be allowed the leave Chelsea provided that’s what the player tells his manager. Sarri said:
I’m not interested in the agent. I want to hear [from] Courtois. If Courtois says the same, I have to speak with my club because I only want players with a high level of motivation.
Who could Chelsea sign if Courtois leaves?
Several high profile keepers have been listed as possible targets. They include AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel and Everton’s Jordan Pickford.
But have Chelsea left it too late to sign one of those top goalies? Time will tell.
Of course, 38-year-old Rob Green has joined Chelsea as a back-up stopper this summer.
