Conte reveals that Milan Skriniar could still leave for Spurs / Bale speaks out about his return to the place he ‘loves’

Financial pressures

Inter Milan are feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it could yet cost them some of their key players.

25-year-old Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar is reportedly wanted by Spurs. The established centre-half starters for Spurs are currently Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld. With goals conceded in both the league and Europa League qualifiers, though, there is still room for improvement.

Jose Mourinho will look to invest in defensive reinforcements if it could improve his side’s fortunes.

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte was this weekend quizzed on Skriniar’s future at the north Italian club.

The tactician replied: “Skriniar to Tottenham? He’s part of our project here at Inter. But I don’t know if an important bid will arrive in the coming days… it’s possible that the club will consider it because of the financial situation.”

Inter have already seen Diego Godin leave to join Cagliari this week, so the Nerazzurri would need to move quickly to replace any possible outgoing defender.

Bale is back

The return of Gareth Bale to the Premier League has been one of the stories of the summer. Disillusioned with life at Real Madrid, Bale spoke to Sky Sports about how he had wanted to leave for a while.

He said: “I am happy to be back and love this club with all my heart. I’ve had great memories here and l feel very happy and confident. My energy levels have gone up.”

The Welshman also spoke about the difference in his mentality now back in England.

“I just want to enjoy my football. In Madrid it was a bit flat for a while, which l think everyone could see. When you are not happy, it’s difficult to play at your highest level.”

Bale is now set to be out of action for some time having picked up an injury whilst on international duty, but all eyes will be on the winger when he once again pulls on a very different, yet familiar white shirt.
