Chelsea fans take to social media to outline key difference between this season and last season during Zenit tie

Chelsea take on Zenit

Chelsea began the defence of their Champions League triumph with a tricky tie against Russian outfit Zenit St Petersburg. It turned into something of a dull affair, but Thomas Tuchel’s side ultimately ran out 1-0 winners despite an incredibly underwhelming performance at Stamford Bridge.

This means that Chelsea, also in a group with Juventus and Malmo, sit second in the group behind the Italian side after the first round of fixtures, with Tuchel taking his side to Turin during the next round of games.

Tonight, however, was all about one man.

Chelsea fans react

Which is, of course, that they now have a true goal-scoring option in the form of Romelu Lukaku:

Will Lukaku be the missing piece to fire Chelsea to Premier League glory, as well as helping them retain their Champions League title? Early showings certainly suggest he’ll be a key contributor if they do.
