Man City 2 – Man United 3
Manchester City still aren’t Premier League champions.
That’s after Man United staged an unbelievable second half comeback at he Etihad on Saturday night.
Vincent Kompany set the early tone as the City legend headed home a 25th minute corner. Five minutes later City were in dreamland as Ilkay Gundogan doubled City’s advantage.
But everything changed in the second half as United hit back. Man United scored three times in 16 second half minutes to turn the match on it’s head.
Paul Pogba scored twice, and Chris Smalling volleyed home the third as United made sure City aren’t Premier League champions this weekend.
Ashley Young vs Sergio Aguero
Argentine international striker Sergio Aguero came on as a second half sub for Man City.
It was Aguero’s first match back after several weeks out through injury.
Man City fans couldn’t believe that Aguero never won a penalty when he was taken out in the box by Ashley Young.
Young caught Aguero with a horrible foul on his left leg. Kun was clearly caught, and the penalty should have been awarded.
Moreover, Young could easily have been sent off for a dangerous tackle.
Yet referee Martin Atkinson not only didn’t book . Young, no penalty was awarded either.
Should the FA impose retrospective action against Young?
The Man United wing-back also got lucky in the first half when he got away with a handball in the box after a slip.
Some social media reaction is below.
@FA hope you are going to finally sack Martin Atkinson. It's ridiculous how awful he was. Congratulations to @FIFAcom for not taking any English refs to the world cup (fantastic choice) they will ruin it as they do with our @premierleague

The reason there is no English referee at the @FIFAWorldCup 2018 is purely because they are very poor in their judgment on the pitch.
Ashley Young foul on Aguero, not only a penalty but a red card. Instead, the ref booked Aguero for complaining.@FA should see to it!#PoorRef
