Brighton confirm triple injury boost ahead of Norwich clash

Brighton boosted for the weekend by returning trio

Brighton boss Graham Potter can rest a little bit easier today, after the Seagulls manager received a big boost to his first-team squad for the weekend.

Potter is set to potentially welcome back trio Yves Bissouma, Adam Webster, and Enock Mwepu to the club’s matchday squad for their meeting with basement-dwelling Norwich.

Brighton have been stripped of their access to Bissouma for a month since his last appearance in the Seagulls’ 2-1 win against Leicester City at the Amex Community Stadium, with Mwepu having missed the same amount of time. Webster has been out for even longer, making his last appearance against Brentford.

The returning trio bolsters the Brighton squad in key positions just before a tricky run of Premier League fixtures against Manchester City (H), Leicester City (A), and Liverpool (A), in the wake of the upcoming weekend programme.

Danny Welbeck and Steven Alzate are now the only options under Potter’s command that are unavailable through injury, but despite players returning to training, it would hardly be a shock if Brighton deployed with the same XI that shared the points with Arsenal in their last Premier League fixture.

Seagulls continue to impress this season

Brighton continue to defy expectations in the early doors of the 2021-22 Premier League season, as they sit joint-third in the table on 14-points and level with both Manchester clubs, as well as Everton.

Graham Potter’s outfit have finally earned results commensurate with the football on offer under the Englishman, and such has been the Solihull-native’s success this season that he has already been linked with the bench at St. James’ Park, as Newcastle look to build the foundations of their new regime.

But a first real run of difficult fixtures could rocket Potter’s men back down to earth, ahead of clashes with City and Liverpool. Three points should be expected at the bare minimum against a Norwich outfit that can boast just one point for their efforts this season.

Though tricky waters are fast approaching, the Seagulls deserve immense credit for how they have performed this season, and the return of Bissouma, Webster, and Mwepu bolsters their chances of producing an upset in the coming weeks.
