Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan is on the verge of joining Manchester United for €30million, according to A Bola.
Reports in Portugal understand that the Argentine’s agent Jorge Mendes is on his way to Manchester to finalise a deal and that the transfer could be complete by next week.
The 27-year- old midfielder has been watched by Man United for some years now and the player was in impressive form last season as Benfica went on to win the Portuguese league title.
It is no secret that the Red Devils are looking to strengthen their squad in attacking areas before the end of the summer transfer window.
In recent weeks United have been heavily linked with Barcelona star Pedro with reports even suggesting that a deal taking the Spanish international to Old Trafford is likely to be struck after the Spanish giants face Sevilla in the Uefa Super Cup in Tblisi tonight.
There have also been conflicting reports suggesting that Manchester United’s local rivals Man City are looking to steal Pedro from under the noses of the Red Devils.
Despite City’s interest Manchester United are still confident of landing the Barcelona star but it will be interesting to see if and how Reds boss Louis Van Gaal makes room for both players in the Manchester United dressing room next season.
