Ashley Young has returned to the Premier League and Aston Villa following a decade spent away from the club.

Young joined Villa from Watford in 2007 following an impressive spell with the Hornets, becoming the former’s record signing at the time.
He demonstrated his value early in his Villa career, providing 17 assists in his first season at Villa park.
Four years later, the winger joined Manchester United for 16 million pounds (as per transfermarkt). It was here that Young experienced his first successes trophy-wise, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League across a nine-year stint at Old Trafford.

Following his departure from Manchester United, it was thought that Young, then 34, was largely finished at the top level. However, he showed incredible longevity, making 26 appearances for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan as they won a first Serie A title since 2010 this past season.
And now, his career has seemingly come full circle, with the English winger back at the ground where he really made a name for himself.
Welcome back, @youngy18! 🤩

Villa planning for a big departure?
Aston Villa have already showed significant intent this summer window. They beat Arsenal to the signature of Norwich City’s highly talented creative force Emiliano Buendia, who moved to Villa Park for a fee in excess of 30 million pounds.

They have also seen an offer for Emile Smith Rowe, Arsenal’s young Englishman, knocked back. What is clear is that the Claret and Blue mean business.

What is less clear, however, is where the future of talisman Jack Grealish lies. Villa’s business thus far suggests that they expect the Englishman to depart, but if they can keep hold of him, the Villans will be an incredibly dangerous force.
