Fulham 1 – Arsenal 5
It’s nine wins in a row for Unai Emery’s Arsenal.
That’s an incredible start for Arsene Wenger’s successor.
On Sunday at Fulham, Arsenal fans sung “we’ve got our Arsenal back” in a 5-1 away win at Fulham.
Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 29th minute with a clinical shot in the box.
However Andre Schurrle drew Fulham level on the stroke of halftime.
In recent times that goal would have deflated Arsenal. But not today.
Lacazette fired the Gunners 2-1 up at the start of the second half.
Aaron Ramsey came off the bench to make it 3-1 in the 67th.
A wonderful day for the Gunners was capped with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who added a late fourth and fifth.
Aaron Ramsey’s ‘goal of the season’
Ramsey’s goal was the pick of the bunch.
The Welsh international, who is set to leave the club either in January or at the end of the season, scored less than a minute after coming off the bench.
The goal was vintage Arsenal: a back to front free-flowing move that involved several players.
The Guardian described the goal beautifully:
Ramsey, with his first touch, dinks the ball gently up the line.
Bellerin keeps the move going with a wonderful, acrobatic backheel.
Ramsey takes possession again and works the ball over with a well-improvised header to Mkhitaryan, who spirits the ball further left to Aubameyang with an inch-perfect pass towards the byline.
Now Ramsey is well inside the box and as the ball is played in he flicks a *sublime* backheel of his own inside a motionless Bettinelli’s back post.
It snuggles into the net just 38 seconds after his introduction. And it’s one of the best team goals of the season!
