Gunners tipped for busy window

Arsenal are expected to be one of the busiest in the transfer window this summer.

The Gunners have already signed 2 players and are expected to bring in Ben White from Brighton in a big-money move.

However, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth expects further outgoings and incomings which could make the club the most active of all in the league.

‘They have backed [Mikel Arteta] in the transfer market so far in this transfer window. In have come Nuno Tavares from Benfica, Albert Sambi Lokonga has signed from Anderlecht, Ben White for 50m pounds is incoming. He is due to take his medical next week.’

‘So I think they have backed him, and it is not over as far as this transfer window is concerned. I think Arsenal will prove to be one of the busiest if not the busiest club in this transfer window.’

Finances not holding back Maddison deal

The Athletic’s David Ornstein spoke to Sky Sports yesterday and revealed that James Maddison would be an unlikely arrival at The Gunners this summer.

However, when the reporter was quoted saying that ‘James Maddison is not the one that I can see developing’ due to it being a ‘huge stretch’ financially, he clarified comments saying he was not claiming Arsenal ‘don’t have the money.’

‘Not easy to explain in a short answer live on air. ESR is now rightly the priority at 10 so while Arsenal are still looking to recruit in that area to compete with / support him I am not sure they will go to the level required to sign Maddison (did not say they don’t have the money),’ wrote Ornstein.

Malen sell-on boost for transfer funds

Arsenal have been heavily criticised for some of the players that they had let go for very little money that have gone on to achieve great things. The likes of Serge Gnabry, Ismael Bennacer and Jeff Reine-Adelaide have all enjoyed great development and dramatic increases in value since leaving.

However, Donyell Malen is another the Gunners lost for very little to PSV and he has since gone on to become a full Netherlands international.

Borussia Dortmund are expected to sign the forward and Arsenal, despite losing him for very little, will earn some money in the deal. A 1% clause means they will received 250,000 pounds from the 25 million pound deal. A little could go a long way in this window and with the effects of the pandemic, any financial gain is welcomed.
