Ahead of the 2021/22 season, Arsenal’s third jersey has been leaked, and sports a retro design which will excite many Gunners fans, because it alludes to one of the club’s most famous and adored kit designs of the past.
Since Arsenal have linked back up with Adidas as their main kit supplier, the company has gone down a very nostalgic route, and produced kits which hark back to past favourites.
Last season, the yellow away kit reminded fans of the famous bruised banana away strip which was worn during Ian Wright’s debut season after signing from Crystal Palace.
This season, a recognisable design has been used for the home kit – this time with the red and white colours of the Arsenal showcased in an arrowed fashion.
And this trend now appears to be continuing, with the rumoured third kit for next season taking on the blue lightning fashion of the famous 1994 and 95 seasons.

The differences from the former kits are that the lightning patterns are darker than the lighter navy background colour. This was alternated on the original design.
Furthermore, the original had vertical stripes breaking up the lightning pattern, which themselves had a dotted style. The new kit simply has the lightning strikes angled diagonally and continuously down the shirt.
White Adidas stripes appear on the shoulders, with the sponsors also appearing in white beside the Adidas logo, which is red.
