Sit down. Make yourself comfortable. Getting through our top ten goals is no simple matter this week.
Over-subscribed with stunners from all around the globe, the list could easily have been extended beyond a measly ten golazos. Plenty have plenty to grumble about, with the likes of Didier Drogba, Ondrej Sourek, Ricardo Quaresma, Julian Draxler, Lionel Messi, David Bentley and Miguel Sabah all delivering wonder-strikes that we sadly had to cull.
That’s left a load of pressure on our selection to be the highest quality, but we confidently believe that we’ve earmarked the creme de la creme.
Want proof? Look no further than goal one which is yet another one of those dream Maradona/Giggs/Messi-esque, slalom/solo, I-cant-believe-he-just-did-that goals which will definitely leave you drooling.
Want more proof? Well, if you haven’t seen goal two yet we’d advise you to prepare your email to forward on this ridiculous acrobatic, how-did-he-do-that goal to all your football loving chums.
Goal three continues the jaw-dropping list with yet another brilliant solo run from the world’s best female footballer, while at goal four we find our first outstanding, nonchalant volley of the week sourced from the French top flight.
Scottish football comes into focus at goal five with a howitzer from a soccer-ball star, an outstanding scissors-kick from Serie A rocks up at goal six, before we find an amazing strike from the acutest of acute angles from the Spanish top flight.
That leaves three: a Brazilian wonder-goal complete with a perfect pirouette in the build-up, our second incredible volley of the week from Mexico, and finally yet another twinkle-toes solo special from a little watched friendly match in Europe.
NOTE: A quick reminder about our new voting feature. Looking to open up our selections to the great 101 public, we kindly ask that you vote for your best goal of the week from our list. The poll can be found at the bottom of this post, and we’ll round up who you thought scored the best goal of the week on Friday.
After stressing that our list is compiled in chronological order (and not order of preference), all that’s left to say is sit back and enjoy!
