Lazio will be aiming to continue their promising unbeaten start to the season when they head to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium where Sampdoria are absolutely desperate for a win after one of their worst-ever results in Serie A.
Sampdoria have been incredibly up and down in the past few years of Italian football, but off the back of losing 4-0 to Salernitana, they’ve only ramped up the fears of another relegation fight in Serie A this campaign.
What’s more, Salernitana were previously winless in the league, only managed to secure safety in Serie A last season by a mere point, and were not even the favourites to grab all three points in the game. Worse yet, Sampdoria had just three shots on target of their own in the game and barely threatened the opposition’s defence.
As for Lazio, they are still riding the high of beating title favourites Inter Milan two weeks back, despite registering a 0-0 draw with Torino last time out. A stunning goal from Luis Alberto stole the show against Inter, as Pedro and Felipe Anderson scored a goal each too. Against Torino, however, Lazio’s three shots on target forced a 0-0 draw, with the Rome outfit looking completely different from previous games.
Maurizio Sarri’s men are still unbeaten, on the other hand, after Ciro Immobile’s winning goal against Bologna was enough for all three points on the opening weekend. Luis Maximiano was sent off that day and he has now returned to the squad.
