The Arechi Stadium will play hosts to Salernitana and Empoli this Monday night as two sides sat down in the bottom half of Serie A meet with one another with both sides eager to end their recent run of draws.
The home side have had a wild few weeks in the new Serie A season. As of now, they currently sit 12th in the league and have not turned over for anybody easily just yet, which is quite commendable given how they finished above the drop zone by just a point last year. In fact, despite losing to Parma in the Coppa Italia 2-0 back at the start of August, Salernitana have also lost to Roma in the league by a narrow 1-0 loss.
A draw with Udinese would come soon after, but with the 4-0 demolition against Sampdoria, the club do have five points on the board after also drawing with Bologna last Thursday. Boulaye Dia, Federico Bonazzoli, Tonny Vilhena and Erik Botheim all scored in the 4-0 hammering over Sampdoria two weeks ago.
As for Empoli, they are down in 15th and have started the season completely differently to how they did last campaign. In fact, with a 2-1 loss to SPAL in the Coppa Italia too, Empoli have now gone five games without tasting victory, after recently drawing three games in a row to Fiorentina, Lecce and Hellas Verona, where they scored just two goals.
Spezia also defeated them on the opening weekend, which although this is their only loss in the league, they failed to score in the 1-0 loss and now have scored just three goals in five games.
