It’s arguably the biggest game of the season so far in Serie A and one of the most notable fixtures on the European calendar this weekend as the champions AC Milan take on the current leaders of the league as Napoli travel to Milan.
It’s been another excellent start to the season for either side in Serie A so far and the result of this game is set to give us the biggest sign in how this campaign could unfold. Milan have already defeated their city rivals Inter Milan in a 3-2 win at the San Siro, but with Napoli top of the table and Inter down in sixth, this game is set to be a bigger test.
The Naples side destroyed Rangers in the Champions League in midweek, as they managed to win 3-0 in Glasgow just one week after dismantling Liverpool 4-1 on their own turf. Combine this with their unbeaten run in Serie A, and it looks like nobody can stop Napoli early on in 2022/23.
On the other hand, Milan are also unbeaten so far. They did draw with RB Salzburg in the Champions League opening weekend, but with a 3-1 victory against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday, they are looking a lot more promising as each game passes.
A win for Milan could also rocket them into top spot in the league if they can better the result of Atalanta. What’s more, both sides are on 14 points after six games and the only difference so far is the extra goal Napoli have scored, and the two fewer goals they have let in.
As this one is at the San Siro, Milan are the narrow favourites, but with the way the Serie A season is unfolding, it’s a tough one to call and it’s set to be quite the spectacle in Milan.
