Jose Mourinho will be looking for an almighty reply when he gets his Roma side travelling on the road for the third game in a row as Empoli welcome the high-flying Rome side to the Carlo Castellani Stadium this Monday night.
Despite the terrible loss to Udinese last time out, Roma still sit fifth in the league table, level on points with the club who just hammered them 4-0, and only three adrift of first-placed Atalanta. What’s more, with the likes of Paulo Dybala hitting the ground running in Rome, Mourinho’s side should hope that the recent demolition is just a hiccup.
On the other hand, despite three wins for the club, it hasn’t necessarily been in convincing style. The club beat Salernitana on the opening day by one goal when Chris Smalling scored the winner, before Bryan Cristante secured all three points in the 1-0 win against Cremonese.
As for Empoli, they are sitting 15th right now and sit as one of the six winless teams in Serie A right now. On the other hand, with four draws already from five games, they still have four points on the board and can leap into 10th if they win here and other results go in their favour.
Roma will be vengeful in this game and will be in search of registering win number four of the Serie A season and reminding the rest of Italy that they are still going to be in this title race this campaign.
