Salernitana will get back on the road when they travel to the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium this Thursday evening where a winless Bologna awaits them following on from the away side registering one of their most impressive Serie A games in history last time out.
Currently, Bologna are winless in the league and five places below Salernitana ahead of this one. On home soil, however, they will be confident in the likes of Marko Arnautovic helping to get the win with them so desperate to rack up all three points.
Bologna met with Lazio on the opening weekend and lost 2-1, as Arnautovic netted from the penalty spot. A 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona saw a second red card in a row for the club in two games, which now means Adama Soumaoro and Riccardo Orsolini have both been suspended already this season.
It’s only the second campaign back in the top flight for Salernitana after narrowly avoiding relegation last time out with a one-point gap on the drop zone. Howver, after hammering Sampdoria 4-0, they are now in a new spirit of form never before felt in Serie A.
In what was the club’s first three points of the campaign, Boulaye Dia scored after seven minutes, before another goal from Federico Bonazzoli nine minutes later sealed a 2-0 lead before half time. Erik Botheim and Tonny Vilhena scored a goal each in the second half, as Salernitana managed to score from four of their six efforts on goal.
A fantastic game in goal from Luigi Sepe and a sensational performance from the midfielders handed them a 4-0 win and the first victory of the season for Salernitana.
Before their excellent win, the club narrowly lost to Roma and drew 0-0 with Udinese too. It keeps Salernitana in 11th after three games and with a promising three-point gap on the relegation zone already.
