Atalanta have reignited their hopes of getting back in Europe for next season with an unbeaten start to 2023 that has seen them collect four points ahead of playing their first competitive home game since November as Salernitana heads to Bregamo.
It’s been a very topsy-turvy season for Atalanta, as the club have gone from title contenders, shot themselves down into eighth, and are now back up into sixth after beating Bologna away from home.
Teun Koopmeiners scored an equaliser that day for Atalanta, before Rasmus Hojlund scored his second goal in two games to seal all three points for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men. His side also drew 2-2 with Spezia on their comeback game, as they went 2-0 down at one stage.
Salernitana, however, have gone in a different direction and crashed from 10th into 14th in early January. This started with Davide Nicola’s men losing to AC Milan 2-1 at the Arechi Stadium.
The club stayed at home for their next game, as Tonny Vilhena scored to equalise against Torino. The game finished 1-1, however, and Salerntiana now sit five points off the top half of Serie A.
