Today could be the day that Dundee’s fate is sealed.

If the Dark Blues fail to win in Paisley, and St Johnstone beat Livingston simultaneously, an instant return to the Championship will bestow them.

Last weekend, the Dee were beaten again, this time going down 1-0 at Pittodrie, the only goal a 73rd minute Aberdeen penalty.

So, since Mark McGhee took over on 17 February, his team have failed to win, accumulating a measly five points from ten games.

Overall, since beating St Johnstone 1-0 on 1 December, Dundee have won only one of 21 Premiership games.

Thus, it is no surprise that they’re bottom of the table, five points below St Johnstone and, as mentioned, relegation could be confirmed.

Will McGhee, belatedly, claim his first victory as Dundee boss and keep their survival hopes alive, for another week at least?

St Mirren meanwhile were very much getting sucked into the relegation battle before claiming a massive three points last weekend.

Greg Kiltie got the only goal, a left-footed strike from the penalty spot, as the Buddies beat St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park.

Before this, Stephen Robinson had lost seven of his first eight games in charge of St Mirren, only beating rock-bottom Dundee.

Nevertheless, the Saints are now eight points clear of St Johnstone in the relegation play-off spot, almost mathematically guaranteed safety.

Will the Simple Digital Arena be the scene for Dundee’s immediate relegation back to the Championship?

Eamonn Brophy was, surprisingly, left on the bench last weekend, but could return, partnering Alex Greive with Curtis Main making way.

After winning last week, Stephen Robinson could stick with the back three of Joe Shaughnessy, Conor McCarthy and Marcus Fraser.

Connor Ronan, on loan from Wolves, has been their star this season, scoring eight times so far.

With both Adam Legzdins and Ian Lawlor out injured, their-choice goalkeeper Harry Sharp will continue between the sticks for Dundee.

They’ll be hoping the 21 year old remains fit because on the bench is 18 year old Tom Welsh who’s yet to make his senior debut.

Elsewhere, captain Charlie Adam and experienced winger Niall McGinn will be key if they are to pull off a great escape.

Danny Mullen is the top-scorer with just seven goals to his name.
