Motherwell vs Rangers betting tips: Scottish Premiership preview, predictions and odds

Three of their last four meetings have actually ended in draws, the only exception being a 6-1 Rangers victory at Fir Park on Halloween. Overall, Rangers are unbeaten in 14 meetings with the Well, winning nine of them, scoring 43 goals in these matches.

Rangers to win and both teams to score NO is 11/10.

Fashion Sakala has scored ten goals this season, five of which have come against Motherwell, including a Fir Park hat-trick in October. The Zambian is 11/4 to break the deadlock and 8/11 to add to his tally.

Match preview

Even though their position in the Scottish Premiership is far from favourable, what a season this could yet turn out to be for Rangers.

In the league, having lost last month's Old Firm derby, the Gers are six points behind rivals Celtic with just five fixtures remaining.

But, both at home and abroad, Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side are going strong as they target double cup success.

Last weekend, Rangers got some Glasgow derby revenge, beating Celtic 2-1 at Hampden after extra time, despite falling behind on the hour mark.

Scott Arfield equalising 12 minutes from time before a 114th minute own goal, Fashion Sakala was certainly claiming it, saw them get through.

So, on 21 May, the Light Blues will face Heart of Midlothian at the National Stadium, aiming to win the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2009.

This could be one of two cup finals Rangers fans are heading to in the space of just four days.

That's because, their team are still going strong in the UEFA Europa League, knocking out Borussia Dortmund, Crvena zvezda and Braga so far.

This forthcoming Thursday, they'll be in Germany to take on RB Leipzig in the first leg of their semi-final showdown.

Before all of that, will they close the gap at the top to three points, even if only temporarily, in North Lanarkshire?

Motherwell meanwhile snuck into the top six a fortnight ago thanks to a comeback draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Livingston were 2-0 up in that game before Callum Slattery halved the deficit with Ricki Lamie then snatching a stoppage time equaliser.

This point was enough to ensure the Well got into the top six, so now their full focus is on getting into Europe.

Graham Alexander's side are currently sixth, below Ross County on goal difference and one point below Dundee United.

The Steelmen need to oust at least one of those two to fifth if they're to be involved in Europa Conference League qualifying come July.

Here, will Rangers be too strong at Fir Park, just as they were back on Halloween when they came from a goal down to win 6-1?

Motherwell team news

Bevis Mugabi opened the scoring when Rangers last visited Fir Park before his team went on to lose 6-1.

Mugabi could continue to fill-in at right-back if Stephen O'Donnell, who was sent off in that game, is still injured.

Kaiyne Woolery and Jordan Roberts scored in the 2-2 draw at Ibrox earlier this year but the former will be on the bench while the latter is injured.

Rangers team news

The visitors meanwhile are still without talismanic centre-forward Alfredo Morelos and will be for the rest of the season.

So Kemar Roofe, who scored a hat-trick in Paisley in their last league game, would continue to deputise be is also out for the next couple of weeks.

So, Fashion Sakala, who's scored five times in three appearances against Motherwell, will lead the line here and in Leipzig on Thursday.

Aaron Ramsey hobbled off before half time at Hampden last weekend so has he played his last minutes in a Rangers jersey?

At the back, with Filip Helander injured, Calvin Bassey could continue next to Connor Goldson with Borna Barišić at left-back.

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor was, controversially, left on the bench at Hampden, but will return in place of Jon McLaughlin.
