Hibs have won eight of their last 15 meetings with Motherwell, including a 3-2 victory at Fir Park on the opening day of the season. These two last met in the Scottish Cup in 1976 and, after two draws, the Well won a second replay at Ibrox 2-1.
Who will rubber-stamp a spot at Hampden and keep their Scottish Cup hopes alive?
Hibernian won their third Scottish Cup in 2016 with David Gray’s stoppage time header ending their 114 year wait to lift the trophy.
More recently, Hibs have been to the National Stadium a lot but have lost in two semi-finals and two finals in the last 17 months.
In 2021, they were beaten by St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup Final before a defeat to Celtic in this season’s League Cup Final in December.
To get this far in the cup, Shaun Maloney’s side have beaten Cove Rangers, 1-0 in extra time, before a 3-1 win at Championship leaders Arbroath.
However, the Hibees can’t score a goal at the moment, drawing their last three Premiership games 0-0, against Celtic, Dundee and St Johnstone.
This leaves them fourth, occupying the final guaranteed European spot, but with six clubs five points or fewer behind.
Motherwell are apart of that chasing pack, four places but just one point below their visitors, in the last-minute scramble to make the top six.
Graham Alexander’s side though are still winless in the league in 2022, a run that now spans ten games after a 1-1 draw with Dundee.
In the Scottish Cup, the Steelmen have won two home games 2-1 so far, beating Greenock Morton in extra time and then Aberdeen.
So, the two-times winners of this competition are still on track to reach a first final since appearing in both cup finals in 2017/18.
Who will be celebrating a semi-final spot after this tie at Fir Park?
Motherwell team news
Bevis Mugabi was surprisingly left on the bench against Dundee last weekend.
But, the Ugandan could return at centre-back, in place of either Sondre Solholm Johansen or Juhani Ojala.
Ricki Lamie is also an option after he switched to full-back on Saturday, but will return to the centre if Jake Carroll is reinstated.
Mark O’Hara, Liam Donnelly and Sean Goss is a settled midfield trio right now with Barry Maguire injured.
Kevin van Veen has scored in both previous rounds so will be looking to continue his 100% Scottish Cup strike rate.
Hibernian team news
Hibs are struggling for goals right now and no wonder with their two-top scorers but currently unavailable.
Martin Boyle is still the club’s leading marksman, despite signing for Al-Faisaly two months ago.
Kevin Nisbet meanwhile was ruled out for the rest of the season following an injury picked up against Celtic.
Elsewhere, first-choice goalkeeper Matt Macey is currently injured, meaning Kevin Dabrowski will continue to deputise in goal.
At the back, Paul McGinn, Demetri Mitchell, Harry Clarke and Paul Hanlon are all injured while Rocky Bushiri is suspended.
It goes without saying this leaves Shaun Maloney short of defensive options.
So, Josh Doig could fill in at left-centre-back with Lewis Stevenson and Drey Wright out-wide.
In midfield, there’s no Joe Newell or Kyle Magennis so Sylvester Jasper and Ewan Henderson will support striker Christian Doidge.
USA international Chris Mueller has started just thrice since making the move from Orlando City.
