Heart of Midlothian vs Rangers betting tips: Scottish Premiership preview, predictions and odds

Rangers have won their last two meetings with Hearts, including a 2-0 victory in Gorgie in December. However, before that, Hearts had won back-to-back home matches against Rangers, coming a month just before the pandemic hit in 2020.

Hearts to win is 9/5.

Both teams to score is 8/13.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 20/21.

Hearts to win and over 2.5 goals is 10/3.

Match preview

This is a dress-rehearsal for next Saturday's Scottish Cup Final, but Rangers have an even bigger final in-between their two meetings with Hearts.

Last Wednesday, the Light Blues hammered Ross County 4-1 in, what was, their 31st and final match at Ibrox this season.

Scott Wright broke the deadlock before a James Tavernier penalty and late strikes from Fashion Sakala and Amad secured the win.

But, it's too late in terms of the title race for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side with Celtic crowned champions simultaneously up in Dundee.

Not that Rangers supporters care too much about that because, this forthcoming Wednesday, tens of thousands will converge on Seville.

Having overcome Borussia Dortmund, Crvena zvezda, Braga and RB Leizpig, they're through to the Europa League Final, just their fifth final on the continent.

In four days time, the Gers will face Eintracht Frankfurt at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, looking for their first European silverware in 50 years.

With that in mind, and the league now mathematically over, expect van Bronckhorst to make numerous changes for this match.

Heart of Midlothian will have been delighted that Rangers have reached the Europa League Final.

That's because, three days later, these two clubs will go head-to-had at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final.

Robbie Neilson's side have had third place sown up a long time ago, meaning they're guaranteed eight European games in the first half of next season.

Thus, the Jambos' 2-1 defeat at Fir Park against Motherwell in midweek is inconsequential.

Taking third spot is a massive achievement for Hearts, but they'll be looking to make a great season an unforgettable one in Glasgow next Saturday.

Before then, who will win the cup final preview at Tynecastle?

Heart of Midlothian team news

Josh Ginnelly will be hoping his goal in midweek is enough to earn him a start here and, more importantly, next Saturday too.

However, Liam Boyce and Ellis Simms, who's impressed since arriving in January, have been the usual strike partnership.

At the back, John Souttar is fit again so could feature against the side he's set to join in the summer.

Likewise, Andy Halliday will face the club he supported as a boy and then made 152 appearances for.

Rangers team news

As mentioned, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is likely to rest all of his starters for Wednesday and you can't really blame him can you?

This should see Jon McLaughlin make his 15th appearance of the campaign in goal.

Fellow fringe players James Sands, Mateusz Żukowski, Amad and Steven Davis are all expected to start this one.

18 year old Alex Lowry signed his first professional contract last week before making his first Premiership start on Wednesday.

He, Leon King and other youngsters will be hoping for a start in this one.

Filip Helander, Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos are all sidelined while Kemar Roofe is a massive doubt for next week's two cup finals.
