Match preview

Rangers continue their European tour and it is showing no signs of slowing down just yet.

On Thursday night, having won the first leg 3-0 at Ibrox, Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side travelled to Belgrade looking to finish the job.

However, at a rocking Stadion Rajko Mitić, they made a terrible start with Crvena zvezda opening the scoring after just ten minutes.

The Serbian champions threw everything they had at Rangers and the away side were certainly reliant on Allan McGregor to maintain their advantage.

Then came the decisive moment when, just after half time, Ryan Kent broke forward and his deflected shot restored parity on the night.

Red Star Belgrade did retake the lead with a stoppage time penalty, but the Gers relatively comfortably got through 4-2 on aggregate.

The Light Blue have now reached a European quarter-final for the first time since getting all the way to the UEFA Cup Final 14 years ago.

On Friday afternoon, they were drawn against Braga, a side they dumped out of the Europa League just three years ago.

So, expectations are certainly growing that Gers fans could be converging on Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán for the final on 18 May.

Domestically, the reigning champions of Scotland still have so much to play for too.

They start the weekend three points behind Celtic and through to the Scottish Cup semi-finals having won at Dundee seven days ago.

The Old Firm meet in the Premiership at Ibrox on 3 April before going head-to-head again at Hampden in the cup a fortnight later.

After a gruelling but successful trip to Eastern Europe in midweek, will Rangers return to domestic football with a victory in Tayside?

Dundee meanwhile were dumped out the cup by Rangers last Sunday but certainly have bigger fish to fry.

The Dee are currently rock bottom of the Premiership table, one point behind St Johnstone and nine adrift guaranteed safety.

Under Mark McGhee, the Dark Blues have taken just two points from five games so pipping the Saints to the relegation play-off spot is surely their only route to survival.

Rangers should stroll to another win at Dens Park.

Elsewhere, club captain Charlie Adam is out; he'a a huge loss in midfield.
