Dundee United vs Celtic betting tips: Scottish Cup quarter-final preview, predictions and odds

Celtic have won 11 of their last 13 games against Dundee United, with the Tangerines' last victory against the Hoops coming in December 2014. The Celts have also won 43 of their last 45 domestic cup ties.

Celtic to win and over 2.5 goals is 10/11.

Celtic to win and both teams to score is 12/5.

Giorgos Giakoumakis is 10/3 to break the deadlock and 10/11 to add to his tally.

Match preview

After Celtic's longest gap between games of the season, excluding international breaks and the winter break, the Hoops continue their cup quest.

Between 2017 and 2020, the Hoops won an unprecedented quadruple-treble, before relinquishing all three trophies in shambolic style last season.

However, having already regained the League Cup back in December, Ange Postecoglou's team are hoping to deliver even more silverware in May.

Last weekend, Celtic ended their Tony Macaroni Arena hoodoo by beating Livingston 3-1, their first victory at Almondvale in six attempts since 2007.

Daizen Maeda, an own goal and then James Forrest ensuring the Bhoys remain three points clear of Rangers with just eight games to go.

They are now unbeaten in 28 domestic games, including seeing off Alloa Athletic and then Raith Rovers in the previous two rounds.

Although, it's not been all plain sailing; Celtic were humiliatingly hammered 5-1 in the Europa Conference League by Bodø/Glimt last month.

Out of Europe, securing the league title remains the priority but, of course, the Hoops would love to book another trip to Hampden with victory here.

Dundee United though, having drawn 1-1 at Celtic Park back in September, will fancy their chances of a Monday night upset.

The Tangerines held Heart of Midlothian to a 2-2 draw last weekend with Liam Smith and Nicky Clark on target in that entertaining affair.

So, Tam Courts' side have only lost one of their last seven in the league, but have also won just once; draws are very much holding the Arabs back.

This means they currently sit seventh, below sixth on goal difference with the split just three games away.

In the cup, this'll be their first home game of the season after narrow away wins against Championship clubs Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle.

Dundee United have appeared in ten Scottish Cup Finals in their rich 112 year history, lifting the trophy in 1994 and 2010.

Will they knock out the record-winners of this competition on, what promises to be, a huge night at Tannadice?

Dundee United team news

Celtic cult-hero Tony Watt was Dundee United's big-money January edition but he's currently out injured.

Without him, Nicky Clark will continue as Mark McNulty's strike partner.

Elsewhere, Ian Harkes is a key cog in midfield; the American bagged the equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Parkhead earlier this season.

Benjamin Siegrist continues to impress in goal and, if his team do win this one, he'll surely need to be at his best.

Celtic team news

The visitors are without David Turnbull and Kyōgo Furuhashi long-term, although there is hope that Kyōgo could be back for the Old Firm on 3 April.

Instead, at centre-forward, Georgios Giakoumakis is expected to start, despite missing recent matches against Hibs an St Mirren with illness.

This would see Daizen Maeda drop to the bench.

James Forrest's clincher at the Tony Macaroni means he has now scored in 13 consecutive Scottish Premiership seasons.

However, Liel Abada, who's netted in five different competitions during this campaign, could return with Jota on the other flank.

Josip Juranović and Matt O'Riley were also surprisingly on the bench last Sunday, but both are likely to return here.

After a blistering start in hoops, Reo Hatate has somewhat fallen out of favour so could be a substitute again.
