Yet another disappointing night in Europe for Celtic.

On Thursday, the Hoops hosted back-to-back Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League knockout stages.

The home side certainly fancied their chances but it was the Yellows who led at the break before doubling their lead shortly after half time.

Daizen Maeda's glancing header got them back into the tie but, immediately from kick off, a shot deflected in off Callum McGregor to secure the 3-1 victory.

This is the ninth time Celtic have lost the first leg of a European tie at home with the only one they've gone onto win coming against Dynamo Moskva in 2009.

It's going to be some turnaround if they aren't to exit Europe at Aspmyra Stadion, inside the Arctic Circle, this forthcoming Thursday.

Closer to home, the Scottish Premiership is playing host to a very hotly contested title race.

In their last league game, Ange Postecoglou's side beat Aberdeen 3-2 thanks to Jota's magnificent brace at Pittodrie.

This means the Hoops remain one point clear of Rangers having won all seven league games since Christmas Day.

Dundee meanwhile were also in the news this week, despite not having a fixture.

On Wednesday, manager James McPake was sacked with Mark McGhee taking over, his first managerial role since leaving Barnet in 2018.

Amazingly, McGhee will not be on the touchline for Dundee's next six games due to an SFA ban he was handed as Motherwell boss five years ago.

Bizarrely, the Dark Blues actually won their last two games under McPake, beating Hearts in the league and Peterhead in the cup.

Nevertheless, they are still second bottom of the table, one point above St Johnstone and six adrift of Ross County and safety.

This should be an easy home win at Celtic Park.

After a tough night both physically and emotionally on Thursday, it would be no surprise if Ange Postecoglou made a few changes to his XI.

Kyōgo Furuhashi, who scored a hat-trick on his Parkhead debut against Dundee in August, and David Turnbull are but out injured.

Somewhat surprisingly, Daizen Maede was given the nod up front against Bodø/Glimt but Georgios Giakoumakis is expected to return for this one.

Reo Hatate was left on the bench in Europe, despite his outstanding performances, but will surely return here, either taking the place of Tom Rogic or Matt O'Riley.

The other Japanese January signing, Yōsuke Ideguchi, is in contention for this one as he's not in the UEFA squad.

Jota bagged a brace at Dens Park in October and will be looking to rediscover his best form against the same opponents here.

Dundee team news

Given that Mark McGhee only took over on Thursday, and was spotted scouring Celtic that evening, it's hard to know what kind of team he'll put out.

Key centre-back Lee Ashcroft hasn't played since late-November due to knee surgery.

Veterans Charlie Adam and Niall McGinn were both on the scoresheet in Monday night's Scottish Cup victory over Peterhead.

Canadian international Jay Chapman will be hoping for his first start in dark blue after joining from Inter Miami in January.

With Jason Cummings having left for Central Coast Mariners, Danny Mullen will be the main man for goals, despite only netting four times so far this season.
