It’s a battle of two of the current top four as two of the Premier League’s form teams go head-to-head.

Last weekend though, Liverpool suffered a rare setback.

The Reds looked set for a comfortable Anfield win over Brighton & Hove Albion when they were 2-0 up after just 24 minutes.

Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mané scoring.

However, the Seagulls got it back to 2-2 and, in truth, were very unlucky not to win on Merseyside.

So, Jürgen Klopp’s side are still second but are now three points behind Chelsea.

His team did respond in midweek though with another comfortable Champions League victory.

Diogo Jota and Mané, both set up by Trent Alexander-Arnold, got the goals in a routine 2-0 home victory over Spanish champions Atlético Madrid.

This means Liverpool are through to the round of 16 as group winners which is a remarkable achievement with two games to go.

In all, Liverpool are now unbeaten in 25 matches in all competitions, last losing on 6 April to Real Madrid in Valdebebas.

If they avoid defeat here, they’ll set a new unbeaten club-record, dating back to when they joined the Football League 129 years ago.

Also, Liverpool have scored 3+ goals in their last six away league matches.

They’re now looking to equal Birmingham City’s record of doing so in seven successive games, set between 1892 and 1893 in the second-tier.

West Ham United though have taken 62 points in 2021, which is already their highest tally in a calendar year in the Premier League with ten matches still to go.

In fact, only Premier League champions Manchester City and European champions Chelsea have earned more points this year.

Last Sunday, West Ham hammered Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park, outclassing their fellow claret wearing opponents.

Ben Johnson, Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen with the goals in the Midlands.

This means David Moyes’ side have won three in a row, after beating Everton and Tottenham, still having only lost twice.

This means they start the weekend in the top four and would go above their visitors with a win.

The Irons were also involved in European action in midweek, coming so close to a victory in Belgium.

Saïd Benrahma’s brace had them 2-1 up over Genk at Luminus Arena only for Tomáš Souček to head home an 88th minute own goal.

Nevertheless, having started with three straight wins, Moyes’ men are through to the Europa League knockout stages and another win will secure top spot.

Now, will the Hammers’ fantastic form continue as they aim to end Liverpool’s unbeaten streak at the London Stadium?

Prediction: West Ham United 1-2 Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is looking to become the first player in Premier League history to score in the first six away matches of a campaign.
