Tottenham are back in action so will they climb the table?

Spurs were scheduled to take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday but the game was called off 50 minutes before kick off due to heavy snow.

So, this game is their first for a week and, last Thursday, they suffered the club’s most embarrassing European defeat of all time.

A week ago, Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Slovenian champions NŠ Mura at Stadion Ljudski vrt in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Ryan Sessegnon’s red card kicked off a miserable night in which the home side won it with the very last kick of the game.

This means, assuming Vitesse beat Mura at home, Spurs must beat run-away group winners Rennes to qualify for the preliminary knockout round.

In the Premier League, Antonio Conte did enjoy a victory in his first home game 11 days ago.

His team came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg equalising before Sergio Reguilón’s first for the club secured the win.

That was their first win in four league matches so it leaves them seventh.

There are a couple of good omens coming into this one.

First, Tottenham are unbeaten in 11 meetings with Brentford, including last season’s Carabao Cup semi-final, a run that dates back to 1948.

Also, Harry Kane has scored eight Premier League goals in eight appearances on Thursdays.

Will Kane, who’s only scored once in the league so far this season, fire his side to a victory here?

Brentford meanwhile have only lost one of their six matches on the road this season, a 3-1 defeat at Burnley last month.

That formed part of a five-match winless run that Thomas Frank’s side were enduring but this came to an end on Sunday.

Ivan Toney’s penalty was the only goal of the afternoon in a 1-0 victory over Everton at the Brentford Community Stadium.

So, the Bees are up in 12th place and will be buzzing if they finish anywhere near there come May.

Can the away side cause an upset at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Brentford
