Will Liverpool continue their unbeaten start to the season in all competitions?

Last weekend, of course, the Reds demolished bitter rivals Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford.

It was 4-0 at half time with Naby Keïta and Diogo Jota getting on the scoresheet before Mo Salah completed his hat-trick just after the interval.

The Egyptian has now scored in ten successive appearances in all competitions.

Also, it would be remiss though not to mention Jordan Henderson’s outrageous through-ball for that fifth goal.

Having won 5-0 in their last two league games, Jürgen Klopp’s side can now become the third Premier League side to win by 5+ goals in three successive matches.

Chelsea in 2010 and Manchester City seven years later are the others.

Overall, Liverpool are second in the Premier League, top of the Champions League group on maximum points and still in the Carabao Cup

On Wednesday night they found Preston North End stern opposition but late goals from Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi saw them progress.

Origi’s scorpion kick sealing the win at Deepdale which sees his side into the League Cup quarter-finals for just the second time in five seasons.

Will the Reds’ rampant form continue?

Brighton & Hove Albion meanwhile made a terrific start to the season but are now struggling for a win.

Graham Potter’s side had 12 points after five matches but are winless in four since then, getting outclassed 4-1 by Manchester City a week ago.

Nevertheless, the Seagulls do currently sit fifth which is a remarkable upturn given that they’ve finished 15th, 17th, 15th and 16th since promotion.

However, Brighton did exit the League Cup in midweek, as a result of some calamitous defensive errors.

It finished 2-2 at the King Power with Brighton coming from behind twice to force penalties; Adam Webster and Enock Mwepu scoring.

But, in the subsequent penalty shootout, Neal Maupay hit the crossbar and Mwepu saw his effort saved as Leicester advanced.

So, Brighton will now be looking for their first victory in any competition since the last round of the League Cup on 22 September.

It goes without saying that will not be easy though as Liverpool are unbeaten in 67 Premier League home games in front of fans.

Will Liverpool be far too strong at Anfield?

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Between 1991 and 2020, Liverpool won nine successive meetings with Brighton.

But, last season, the Seagulls took four points off the Reds, drawing 1-1 at the Amex before a first ever victory at Anfield in February.
