One of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures on the Premier League calendar: the North London Derby.

These two great rivals have met 193 times in total with their 32 encounters since 2008 producing 105 goals, an average of 3.3 per match.

This one though will be the first since September 2019 in front of a full house, back when it was Unai Emery vs Mauricio Pochettino.

Safe to say a lot has changed in the world and at both clubs since then.

Who will claim three points and North London bragging rights?

Arsenal started this season with three straight defeats, failing to score in any of them, but have since got back on track.

In the league, they’ve enjoyed back-to-back 1-0 wins, first Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang downed Norwich at home.

Then, last weekend, Martin Ødegaard’s spectacular free-kick was enough to beat Burnley at Turf Moor.

On Wednesday, the positivity continued for Mikel Arteta’s side as they beat AFC Wimbledon 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring with a penalty before late strikes from Emile Smith Rowe and an amazing Eddie Nketiah back-heal secured the win.

Will the Gunners now continue this winning run into the biggest fixture of them all?

While Arsenal made a catastrophic start and then found some form, Spurs’ results have been the exact opposite.

Nuno Espírito Santo became the first Tottenham manager to start with three successive top-flight wins, beating Man City, Wolves and Watford.

But, since then, they’ve lost both league outings 3-0, first at Selhurst Park to Crystal Palace and then to Chelsea a week ago.

In the latter, the Lilywhites actually played very well in the first half but were crushed by a trio of second half goals.

Then, in midweek, Spurs also advanced in the League Cup, but only just.

Goals from Tanguy Ndombele and then Harry Kane had them 2-0 up at Molineux, only for Wolves to fight back and force a penalty shootout.

Kane, Sergio Reguilón and Bryan Gil all converted in the shootout with stand-in goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini making one save as they got through.

But, all that matters now for these two clubs, separated by 4.1 miles, is winning this derby match.

Will North London be red or white on Sunday night after this colossal clash at the Emirates?

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal can win back-to-back Premier League North London Derbies for the first time since 2013/14.

Aaron Ramsdale is looking to become the third Gunners’ goalkeeper to start with three Premier League clean sheets after Alex Manninger and David Ospina.

Just one of Tottenham’s last ten managers have won their first North London Derby but that was José Mourinho in July 2020.

Harry Kane is this fixture’s Premier League record goalscorer, with 11, having overtaken Emmanuel Adebayor’s record last season.
