Wolves’ defeat to Burnley last weekend means they have lost three of their last four matches. However, their recent win over Chelsea will serve as a reminder of their unpredictability to Jose Mourinho
It’s worth noting that Wolves have only conceded seven goals at home this season, which is the joint-best home defensive record in the league.
Spurs have only won one of their last five league games, which has left many reconsidering their early title credentials.

Wolves vs Tottenham: Match preview
Wolves host Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux on Sunday evening.
Spurs were in midweek Carabao Cup action. They beat Championship side Stoke City 3-1 at the Bet365 Stadium to set up a semi-final date with Brentford. Gareth Bale, Ben Davies, and Harry Kane were all on the scoresheet on Wednesday.
Spurs will be eager to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho’s side have last their last two league games and are without a win in their last three. Last weekend they suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Leicester.
Recent results have seen Spurs go from Liverpool’s closest title challengers to top-four hopefuls. Tottenham begin the weekend 6th in the table on 25 points, but things are so congested at the top that they’re still only two points off 2nd.
Wolves lost 2-1 at Burnley last weekend, a week after beating Chelsea 2-1. Fabio Silva scored a consolation from the penalty spot but it wasn’t enough to stop Wolves from suffering their third defeat in four matches. Wolves begin the weekend 11th in the table on 20 points.
With three wins, two draws, and two defeats, Wolves have the 8th-best home record in the Premier League, although they have only lost one of their last six matches at Molineaux.
Tottenham’s away form ranks 4th in the league, having won four, drawn two, and lost one of their seven away games this season. Spurs have scored 15 away goals and conceded just six.
Wolves and Spurs have faced each other 12 times in the Premier League. Spurs have half of those matches, losing four and drawing the remaining two.
Their most recent meeting in March of this year finished 3-2 to Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs twice took the lead, first through Steven Bergwijn and then through Serge Aurier. Wolves got back on level terms thanks to goals from Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota, before Raul Jimenez scored the winner. None of Wolves’ goalscorers from that day will be in their side on Sunday.
Wolves team news vs Tottenham
Nuno Espirito Santo has said his squad are “not in a good moment” in reference to their current fitness levels, suggesting we could see some rotation on Sunday.
Fabio Silva came off the bench to score against Burnley. The striker could be rewarded with a start at the expense of one of Wolves’ midfield players, possibly Ruben Neves.
Leander Dendoncker is a major doubt after being forced off with an injury against Chelsea two weeks ago. Dendoncker’s absence could afford 19-year-old American Owen Otasowie with another first-team start.
Willy Boly also picked up an injury in that Chelsea game and, despite featuring on the bench against Burnley, is a doubt to face Spurs. Max Kilman and Romain Saiss are set to partner Conor Coady in Wolves’ back three.
Rayan Ait-Nouri will be hoping to keep his place at left-wingback, keep Marcal out of the starting eleven. Adama Traore and Vitinha may have to settle for substitute apeparances once again.
Speaking about the injured Raul Jimenez, Espirito Santo said: “We don’t have a timetable. We have to follow the protocols but it is about getting him healthy again. We have time.”
Jonny Otto is another long-term absentee.
Tottenham team news vs Wolves
Jose Mourinho made seven changes to his starting eleven for Spurs’ Carabao Cup tie at Stoke in midweek. Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Harry Kane were the only four players to keep their place in the side.
Dele Alli was given a rare start against Stoke but Tanguy Ndombele is set to be recalled for Sunday.
Gareth Bale was replaced at half-time at the Bet365 Stadium after “feeling something”, making him a doubt to face Wolves.
Giovani Lo Celso picked up a hamstring injury in last weekend’s defeat to Leicester and “he will not be playing in this period of Christmas and New Year for sure”, Mourinho confirmed. Steven Bergwijn looks set to start on Spurs’ right flank.
Japhet Tanganga is still sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Matt Doherty is in contention to face his former side but, having played in midweek, is likely to be replaced in the starting eleven by Serge Aurier.
