Wolves vs Chelsea: Match details
Match: Wolves vs Chelsea
Competition: Premier League
Date: December 15, 2020
Kick-off time: 6:00 pm (UK time)
Stadium: Molineux Stadium
Betting prediction: Wolves 1-2 Chelsea
Both sides will be looking to bounce back after suffering defeats on the weekend.
The Blues have a good record at Wolves, with three wins in their last four matches at Molineux.
By their own high standards, Wolves are in pretty bad form with just one win in their last five. To be fair to Wolves, they’ve not had the easiest run of games. And it’s not going to get any easier with games against Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United to come in December.

Wolves vs Chelsea: Recommended bets
Timo Werner to score. Werner has now gone eight appearances for club and country without finding the back of the net, although he is still averaging close to a goal every other game this season.
Both teams to score. Prior to Saturday’s game, Wolves had scored in seven consecutive home matches. Likewise, Chelsea failed to score an away goal on Saturday for the first time in six games.
Wolves vs Chelsea: Premier League match preview
Wolves host Chelsea at Molineux on Tuesday evening.
Chelsea failed to consolidate their place in the top four this weekend as they were beaten 1-0 away to Everton. It was the Blues’ first defeat in 15 matches in all competitions.
Chelsea could have temporarily moved to the top of the Premier League table had they won on Saturday. Instead, the result leaves Frank Lampard’s men 5th in the table on 22 points – just three points shy of league leaders Tottenham.
Prior to Saturday’s defeat, Chelsea had won five consecutive away matches in all competitions. Chelsea’s away form ranks 5th in the league, with three wins, two draws and one defeat from their six matches on the road.
Wolves lost 1-0 at home to Aston Villa in a Midlands derby on Saturday.
The match saw plenty of late drama, with both sides getting a man sent off in the final five minutes. Wolves conceded a 94th-minute penalty.
Saturday’s result means Wolves are 13th in the league table, although a win on Tuesday could lift them as high as 9th, at least temporarily.
Will Wolves lose again?
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have now lost back to back matches. They haven’t lost three consecutive Premier League matches since November 2018.
Wolves’ home form ranks 11th in the league, with two wins, two draws, and two defeats from six matches. No team has conceded fewer goals at home than Wolves this season (6). Wolves problem has been scoring goals at home, and those struggles could continue in the absence of Raul Jimenez.
Wolves and Chelsea have met 12 times in the Premier League previously, with the Blues winning nine of those matches. Chelsea beat Wolves 2-0 in the sides’ most recent meeting at Stamford Bridge in July. Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud both scored in first-half stoppage time. Chelsea also won 5-2 in last season’s corresponding fixture at Molineux.
Wolves team news vs Chelsea
Willy Boly was named on the bench for only the second time since Wolves’ promotion. The defender is expected to slot straight back into defence on Tuesday.
Joao Moutinho will serve a one-match suspension following his very late sending off against Villa.
Ruben Neves is set to replace Moutinho in the starting eleven. Rayan Ait Nouri and Max Kilman are further options for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Raul Jimenez remains sidelined with a serious head injury. At the moment, there’s no timescale for the Mexican’s return.
Jonny Otto is another long-term absentee.
Chelsea team news vs Wolves
A quick turnaround time between matches could see Frank Lampard make some changes to his starting eleven.
Christian Pulisic looks set to return to the matchday squad. Pulisic was not risked against Everton due to a “tiny” hamstring problem, although Frank Lampard confirmed that the American is “training normally”
35-year-old Thiago Silva may be rested, which would see Antonio Rudiger partner Kurt Zouma in central defence. Tammy Abraham, Jorginho and Cesar Azpilicueta are further options for rotation.
Billy Gilmour will be hoping to be involved again after coming off the bench to make his first Premier League appearance of the season.
Hakim Ziyech missed out at the weekend with a hamstring injury and won’t be available for Tuesday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi also has a muscular problem and will miss the next couple of matches.
