Wolves welcome Fulham to the Molineux in Wolverhampton on Sunday for this Premier League match.

The Cottagers fans will be hoping this will be their time to finally secure an away victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Their 14 visits here have seen 10 Wolverhampton Wanderers wins and 4 draws.

Although, one of those draws in the FA Cup back in 2015 resulted in a penalty shoot-out, won by Fulham.

Wolves picked up 4 points from 6 against Fulham when the Cottagers were last in the Premier League. This included a 1-0 home win here with Leander Dendoncker scoring the game’s only goal 15 minutes from time.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC vs Fulham FC: What are the betting odds?

Wolves have won 5 of the last 6 home league matches in this head-to-head. They start the day as 1/2 on favourites, despite losing their only home match so far this season to Manchester City.

Three of the last eight matches at the Molineux in this head-to-head have ended in a stalemate. Odds of 3/1 are available if you see Wolves and Fulham cancelling each other out on Sunday.

Fulham have never won a match at the Molineux. Their only victory here came on penalties in the FA Cup. They also lost their only away Premier League match this season, falling to a 4-3 defeat at Leeds United. This sees them start the game as huge 13/2 underdogs.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC vs Fulham FC: Recommended bets

101 Great Goals’ prediction of Wolves 2 – 2 Fulham is available at odds of 22/1.

Wolves won the last match against Fulham back in May 2019 by a 1-0 scoreline. A repeat of this score on Sunday is available at odds of 5/1.

Fulham won the last match between these two teams in the Championship, prior to Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League. You can back them at 40/1 for the same 0-2 scoreline here on Sunday.

Each of the last four Wolves vs Fulham matches have been low scoring games with under 2.5 goals scored. You can back another low scoring game here on Sunday with odds of 8/11 for under 2.5 goals.

Raúl Jiménez (above) is Wolves’ top-scorer this season in the Premier League, with 2 goals. The 29-year-old forward is the 11/4 favourite to score the game’s opener on Sunday. Or 10/11 to bag a goal at any time during the game against Fulham.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (below) also has 2 league goals for Fulham so far this season. The 26-year-old Serbian international is the favourite of those in white to get on the scoresheet at 9/4. You can back Mitrovic at 13/2 to grab the game’s opening goal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC vs Fulham FC: Match preview

This match has likely come at the right time for both clubs.

With both out of form and desperately needing a win to kick-start their season, they could be perfect opponents for each other with neither team looking more beatable than right now. Of course, only one of the teams will still feel that way come Monday morning.

History tells us that the home team usually prevails in this fixture. How much of that is the sound of the crowd and the acoustics in these more than 100-year-old stadiums? Therefore, will the lack of a crowd here give the upper hand to Fulham? Or, at the very least, even the playing field?

Fulham have been a mess defensively this season. They have already conceded 10 goals, with only West Brom conceding more with 11. Their keepers have faced the 2nd highest post-shot xG per shot on target in the Premier League this season. While this goes some way to explaining why they collectively have an awful 43% save rate, the data suggests they should only be conceding 7-8 goals based on the shots they faced.

Wolves’ defence on the other hand has done a good job in limiting the quality of the shots their keeper faces. Both teams goalkeepers have had to face 16 shots on target. However, the probability of Wolves conceding from those shots is around half Fulham’s, based on the quality of the chances allowed. This puts them in the top 5 in this regard.

Despite this, Rui Patricio has also conceded more than he should have based on shots faced. He should be conceding between 4-5 goals from the shots on target he has faced, yet had conceded 7.

This all suggests that if we see an open game on Sunday with lots of shots, we could get close to the thrilling 4-4 scoreline we had in the past.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC team news vs Fulham FC

Jonny Castro Otto remains the only long-term injury for Wolves. He had surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament in August and won’t feature again until 2021.

Summer signing Fernando Marcal missed Wolves’ 4-0 defeat at West Ham with a lower leg injury. He is rated at 50/50 to pass a late fitness test and be involved in Sunday’s match.

Similarly, Daniel Podence is touch and go to make it back in time to face Fulham. He picked up a shoulder injury against Manchester City and faces a late fitness test on Sunday.

After a run of three defeats, culminating in the humiliating 4-0 drumming at the Hammers, Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to shuffle his pack here. Leander Dendoncker looks certain to be recalled to the starting XI.

While Vitinha, Ki-Jana Hoever, Oskar Buur and Fábio Silva are among those hoping to start their first Premier League matches for the club.

Fulham FC team news vs Wolverhampton Wanderers FC

Kenny Tete is ruled out with a lower-leg injury. He will have a scan to determine the severity of the injury before Sunday’s game. Regardless of the result, he won’t be involved in Sunday’s match.

Mario Lemina and Harrison Reed both picked up knock causing them to miss the 3-0 defeats against Villa and Brentford. Scott Parker is doubtful they will be back before the international break.

“Mario and Harrison have both picked up injuries. Brentford is definitely too early for them, maybe Wolves is as well.”
– Scott Parker, Fulham Manager

Jean Michael Seri made his first appearance of the season in midweek against Brentford. He had a very poor game and will likely feature for Fulham’s reserves in the coming weeks as he looks to find some match sharpness.

Anthony Knockaert has been an unused substitute in the Premier League for Fulham since he signed for the club this summer for £10.5m. He also started in the 3-0 defeat at Brentford and was one of the few to give a good account of themselves. He will be hoping to make his first Premier League appearance for Fulham here.
