Watford vs Crystal Palace betting tips: Preview, predictions & odds

Result/Both Teams To Score: Draw/Yes (7/2 odds on Bet365) - Though Watford own the head-to-head between these two sides and are coming off a very credible 1-0 win against Aston Villa last time out, Crystal Palace remains - overall - the more dangerous of the two outfits on offer in this midweek tie despite the recent run that has seen them fail to win in any of their last six Premier League outings. A scoring draw seems a fair bet especially after both clubs have drawn five between them of late.

To Score Anytime: Emmanuel Dennis (3/1 odds on Bet365) - Watford top-scorer Emmanuel Dennis could be given the opportunity to get himself on the scoresheet tomorrow and register his 10th Premier League goal of the season in what has been a strong opening campaign in England for the Nigerian forward. The absence of Joel Ward means that he could benefit from a mismatch against veteran right-back Nathaniel Clyne who is set to deputize, and with both Joshua King and Ismaïla Sarr set for inclusion, the supply lines to Dennis could well be open.

Match preview

Watford comes into this midweek clash against Crystal Palace on the back of a 1-0 win against Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa that could bolster their confidence despite now being on the outside looking in regarding the race to climb out of the bottom three after Newcastle have hit their best patch of form of the 2021-22 Premier League season.

Despite sitting in 18th, Hornets boss Roy Hodgson can certainly bank on a very gifted front-three of Emmanuel Dennis (9-goals), Joshua King (5-goals), and Ismaïla Sarr (5-goals) and should appropriately be confident in their ability to carve chances in the Eagles defensive third tomorrow.

For Patrick Vieira, the shoe has to drop, and soon if Palace is to get back to winning ways after failing to secure a single three-point haul in any of their last six fixtures in the league and are now on the outside looking in regarding the race for a top-half finish this term. You could hardly fault the club for three of the losses, however, coming against Chelsea, Liverpool, and West Ham with Palace in the fight throughout, but perhaps there were wins to be had against Norwich or Brentford.

That notwithstanding, the Eagles - like Watford - do have plenty of attacking threat in their ranks and it likely should not take much for them to get back on track. Conor Gallagher will undoubtedly return to the matchday XI after he missed the clash against his parent club, and his 7-goals and general all-around influence in the heart of the midfield is a huge bonus to the club's chances tomorrow.

Watford team news

  1. Watford manager Roy Hodgson remains hopeful that Peter Etebo, Joao Pedro, and Juraj Kucka will be fit for service tomorrow, but center-backs Nicolas Nkoulou Samir will be unavailable.
  2. Danny Rose remains out of the squad, and with no other changes expected, the Hornets could be fielded in a similar XI to that of the team that ran out winners against Aston Villa

Crystal Palace team news

  1. Conor Gallagher returns for Crystal Palace after being unable to suit up against parent club Chelsea, and Eagles boss Patrick Vieira will also be able to call upon Nathaniel Clyne at right-back in the absence of Joel Ward.
  2. Nathan Ferguson and Vincente Guaita are both absent through injury, however, but Palace should still have just about their best XI on paper available with one or two absentees.
