Southampton vs Leicester City: Match details
Match: Southampton vs Leicester City
Competition: Premier League
Date: December 1, 2021
Kick-off time: 7:30 pm, December 1, 2021 (UK time)
Stadium: St. Mary’s Stadium
Betting prediction: Southampton 1-2 Leicester City
Despite their four-goal haul against Watford last time out, Leicester City are hardly having the season that many Foxes supporters would have expected as they sit 10th in the table, but they will still fancy their chances against a Southampton outfit that lacks consistency in front of goal and have lost their last two after a good spell of form. The re-emergence of James Maddison in recent weeks could prove the difference here, and Leicester should be decent value for a three-point haul, though they should not be expected to keep a clean sheet given their leaky defense this term.
Southampton vs Leicester City: Recommended bets
Result/Both Teams to Score: Leicester City/Yes (4/1 odds)
As stated above, Leicester can maybe feel confident here given the recent return to form of James Maddison and the ever-present goal threat of Jamie Vardy persisting in the team. It is hard to picture them keeping it clean at the back, however, with the Foxes already shipping 23-goals this season. A 2-1 win seems a decent bet all things considered.
To Score Anytime: James Maddison (3/1 odds)
With goals in his last two appearances for Leicester, James Maddison should prove influential on the scoresheet in some capacity here. With better odds of return, it’s a bet that would make more sense ahead of banking. on Vardy to hit the back of the net.

Southampton vs Leicester City: Match preview
When will things truly turn around for Southampton? That seems to be the question that has – still – yet to be answered at St. Mary’s for a club that once employed Mauricio Pochettino and was lauded as an outfit that could potentially upset the apple cart in the upper echelons of the Premier League.
🗣"He will have a big impact in this club."#SaintsFC's boss Ralph Hasenhuttl knows new #MUFC interim manager Ralf Rangnick very well and says he will 'turn every stone' in order to succeed at Old Trafford 🏟 pic.twitter.com/FQbvhaxMxN

Comfortably rooted in the bottom half of the table in the last four seasons running, Ralph Hasenhüttl must finally make good on his reputation outside of England if Saints is to push through their poor start to the season overall. A recent run that saw them pick up ten points from a possible twelve showed promise, but successive losses – including a 4-0 thumping by Liverpool – brought the club right back down to earth. Still, there is enough about the club – and enough talent in the first-team – where if they can find consistency, a top-ten finish is hardly out of the question.
Much like Saints, Leicester City is hardly in the midst of the season they would have hoped for after back-to-back 5th place finishes in the Premier League as well as an FA Cup win under Brendan Rodgers.

The return to form of James Maddison – who has two goals and three assists in his last-two appearances overall – could not have come at a better time after the club hit a three-match winless run in the league (0-1-2). Despite sitting tenth, they are only two points outside the top-six and five points outside the top-four. A strong run of form, that could be continued here against Saints after their 4-2 win last weekend, would be an ideal springboard for Rodgers to try to construct if they are to make good on their recent credible success.
Southampton team news vs Leicester City
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl will have the bulk of his first-team available for selection but will have to contend with trying to reverse their latest big defeat after being thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool.
The Austrian headmaster can welcome back Ibrahima Diallo but will be without Stuart Armstrong, Moussa Djenepo, and Jack Stephens for the St. Mary’s clash.
