Betting prediction: Manchester United 3-0 Fulham

Manchester United will feel confident coming into proceedings against Fulham at Old Trafford despite losing their last two Premier League fixtures against Liverpool and Leicester City. With the Europa League final just two weeks away, Ole Gunnar Solskjær will want to arrest United’s recent skid and get back on track in preparation. Fulham has not won away at United since 2003, and with relegation confirmed and Scott Parker planning for life in the Championship next term, this should be – in theory – a straightforward affair for the Red Devils with a comfortable win in front of fans.

Manchester United vs Fulham: Recommended bets

Correct Score: Manchester United 3-0

United should come out of this on the right side with a three-point haul and despite their struggles of late, should be comfortably in control of a side in Fulham that not have different priorities at hand. Getting back to business in the run-up to their clash with Villareal in Gdańsk and in front of home support at Old Trafford should be plenty of motivation for the Red Devils.

To Score First: Mason Greenwood

Young English international Mason Greenwood has been in good form of late, scoring in three of his last five appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, including a goal in each of his last two Premier League starts against Leicester City and Aston Villa. His contributions will remain a key part of a United front four that has bagged a combined 45 out of the club’s 70 goals in the league this term.

Manchester United vs Fulham: Match preview

“It has been down to his own quality, work rate, focus, determination, and desire to get better. He is a young boy learning all the time. Last season, he was outstanding for a first season. This season, he started off with a few struggles. In the long run, that will stand him in good stead. He has got himself through it. He has really worked his socks off to find his form. Towards the end of the season, he is really looking sharp and really good. And he is as good as he has always been in front of goal.” – Ole Gunnar Solskjær on Mason Greenwood

“My all-round play, my defensive work. Just being a player, basically. That is coming through now. My hold-up play has improved. I don’t think I give the ball away as much as I used to do when I was younger and just coming into the team. I know the game a bit more and the pace of the Premier League a bit more. It has all come together.” – Mason Greenwood

England is in the midst of a period where they have quite the crop of young players plying their trade at a handful of huge clubs while making an impact. Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all still under the age of 23 and staring for the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool respectfully. Much like Bellingham and Saka, Mason Greenwood has not yet turned 20, but despite his tender age, the Bradford-native has already made an impact at one of the worlds true footballing giants and is widely regarded as one of the nations brightest talents for not just the future, but the present.

It has been a season of improvement for Greenwood even if goals have not been at a level that many would have hoped to see of yet, but both he and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær are pleased with his overall development as a player, while still keeping faith in his undeniable goal-scoring instincts that have been on display this season in some key moments. In the run-up to the Europa League final, Greenwood remains an ever-present piece of the attacking puzzle for the Red Devils on the back of 30-appearances (20 starts) in the Premier League this term. He will be hoping to add to his league goal tally (7) against Fulham on Tuesday, with eyes on Villarreal on the horizon and a hopeful inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euro this summer. Even though United retains an interest in summer business that could involve Jadon Sancho, Greenwood has firmly rooted himself as part of the fabric at the club.

Fulham and Scott Parker are already planning for life next season

Trying to push back into the Premier League in the immediate wake of relegation is always the primary goal for any club to suffer the same fate, and such tricky waters will have to be expertly managed by Scott Parter and the Fulham hierarchy if they are to avoid sinking into the Championship quicksand. Though they conducted themselves incredibly well last summer to build a squad that was – on paper – seemingly competitive enough to avoid the drop, that goal was not achieved, and the exodus of their quality loan signings is hard enough to deal with regarding how they are meant to be replaced.

The other worry was that some of their prized possessions would also be targeted this summer and presented with Premier League lifelines, and one of those players that have shown for the Cottagers this term is already subject of interest. Tosin Adarabioyo has come on well at Craven Cottage since his move from boyhood club Manchester City, and now Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has trained his eye on the England youth international as an avenue with which to bolster the Gunners’ center back options next term. Should he choose to want to return to the English top-flight, not many could blame him, but any deal that may be struck over the summer highlights the massive job ahead that Parker has to contend with.

A large portion of the Fulham squad from this season will either be returning to their parent clubs or garnering interest from more attractive destinations, so perhaps it was no surprise when Parker fielded both Josh Onomah and Fabio Carvalho in their recent loss to Southampton. Increased exposure for players that the club is planning around for next season is the right way to go given what has been confirmed, but the question remains how the Cottagers intend to fill the void left by the inevitable player exodus via the market. Already proving themselves astute in that arena, the biggest roadblock remaining is the notion that they no longer have Premier League status, but they can rest with the knowledge that more than enough talent exists in the Championship at clubs that are still considered lesser by certain standards. But at the very least, Fulham is on the right path to vital decision-making.

Manchester United team news vs Fulham

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær will be thankful to only have two players missing out on Tuesday’s proceeding at Old Trafford when fans will be in attendance at last.

Harry Maguire and Phil Jones are the only two absentee members, so expect Daniel James and Anthony Martial to be named amongst the substitutes with United sure to go with their strongest XI.

Fulham team news vs Manchester United

As expected, Scott Parker has begun to shape his XI with next season in the Championship in mind and is expected to keep faith in certain youngsters on the back of it.

Parker will be still without the services of Terence Kongolo and Tom Cairney, while Antonee Robinson has also been added to the casualty list and won’t feature against the Red Devils. Josh Onomah and Fabio Carvalho are expected to feature.
