Betting prediction: Manchester City 2-0 Sheffield United
Manchester City’s red-hot form continued midweek against West Bromwich Albion with a 5-0 thrashing of the Baggies.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United perpetrated a shock 2-1 win at Old Trafford against title-contenders Manchester United for their second win in three; their only wins this season in the Premier League.
Though a spirited performance, it’s difficult to see the Blades getting one over on a City-side who are emerging as the title-favorites this term.
Manchester City vs Sheffield United: Recommended bets
– Under 2.5 goals scored
After watching City dispatch West Brom in ruthless fashion and taking their form into account, it could be tempting to expect another goal-glut from Pep Guardiola’s men. Recent trends suggest maybe a bit of the opposite. Five of City’s last six home matches has seen under 2.5 goals scored, and the same can be said in five of their last six against Sheffield United. A similar trend holds true for the Blades’ last three away matches in the Premier league, where 2.5 goals or fewer were on offer.
– Ilkay Gündogan to score anytime
Ilkay Gündogan has emerged as the surprise top-scorer for Manchester City this season in the Premier League, with seven goals to his name halfway through the 2020-21 campaign. He bagged a brace against West Brom in midweek, and should the German international get the expected nod in midfield again on Saturday, adding another goal to his tally is a decent bet.

Manchester City vs Sheffield United: Match preview
The good times keep on coming in the blue half of Manchester as Manchester City continue to roll in the 2020-21 Premier League season.
After just three wins in their first eight league outings this term, Pep Guardiola’s Citizens have dropped just four points out of a possible thirty-three since their rough start to the league campaign.
Despite being without Kevin De Bruyne in recent weeks, any notion that they could struggle to create was put to bed against West Brom. Though without the services of a consistent and recognisable goal-scoring threat in the centre-forward channel, their 36-goals in the Premier League is good enough for second behind joint-goal leaders Manchester United and Liverpool (37). Together with their superb defensive record (13 goals allowed in 19 matches), City are the complete package this term and they show no signs of slowing down.
Three points against Sheffield United would put them temporarily four points ahead of rivals Manchester United (2nd) who travel to an in-form Arsenal side itching to set the record straight.
A temporary theatre of dreams for Sheffield United?
After a shock-result at Old Trafford against Manchester United, one begins to wonder if the winds of change will finally blow in Chris Wilder’s favour on the Sheffield United touchline.
The Sheffield-native can perhaps feel a bit hard done this term. The Blades have been far from stellar, but many suggest they have not been nearly as bad as the table reflect. Recent results against United and Crystal Palace show that – even if they lack depth in quality by comparison – they are still capable on their day.
But two wins from twenty matches this term is the epitome of relegation form, and a massive up-tick in form is needed if they are to survive another year in England’s top-flight competition.
At the very least, Wilder has no plans to change what helped them to an unexpected top-half finish in 2019-20, and that should be commended. Traveling to the Etihad will be a tough-task and though City are clear-favourites to take the full three points, another bit of magic could be precisely what is needed in South Yorkshire.

Manchester City team news vs Sheffield United
Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Aké remain unavailable for the weekend as both have yet to recover from injuries.
Sergio Agüero misses out as well after testing positive for Covid-19.
Kyle Walker is back in the squad and could feature in Pep Guardiola’s match day XI at the Etihad.
Sheffield United team news vs Manchester City
Sheffield are short of numbers at current; Sander Berge, Jack O’Connell, Jack Robinson, Ben Osborn, and Oli McBurnie are all sure to miss Saturday’s fixture.
Chris Wilder may also be without the services of Enda Stevens and Kean Bryan, while John Egan returns from his suspension and is likely to slot straight back into the XI.
